MRS. SIZZLE THINKS RU ENNINFUL IS SUPER CHIC. BEST PART IS, HE DOESNT KNOW IT!
I asked Stefano Tonchi, the editor in chief of W magazine, to talk about Edward: "Edward is one of the most talented image-makers in the world. He is also one of the funniest and most creative people I have ever met. His enthusiasm for fashion and magazines is contagious. I call him “the sunshine in my life" because he can always see the positive side of things, the half full glass and never the half empty. That does not mean that he excepts mediocrity. He constantly strives for excellence but with culture and respect for others."
MRS. SIZZLE SAYS IT WASN'T #NYFW but #NYFL (leash!) AND THE DOGIST CAME TO CAPTURE IT
As NYFW 2014 comes to a close, I can’t help but look back and write about some of the things I learned outside of the catwalk. When it comes to fashion, trends are constantly evolving. What draws so many, like me, to the world of fashion is its infinite progression from season to season. In a year, a designer can completely change their look, textile, and inspiration!
FASHION, FOOD AND FOOLS - MRS. SIZZLE VISITS FREDS AT BARNEYS FOR CANINE DELIGHTS
Editorial Director of The Window at Barneys, Marissa Rosenblum, called me in to do what I now seem to think I do best - gather a team of dogs and photographer to join Barneys in their April 1st canine gathering.
We met at Freds over the course of two days with a total of 13 dogs and more luscious looking food than we knew what to do with. Lens-woman Amy Lombard kept cool amidst puppies walking on pizzas and unimpressed dogs.
I can't stop smiling when I look at Julie Christe's book Flying Dogs
My idea of the flying dogs and the very first series started in 2007 when I was still in school. I was inspired seeing photos of my dog Flinn in midair. He loved Frisbees and would jump after them with abandon, flying up and not caring about where (or even if) he would ever land. I began experimenting with different methods in order to capture other dogs from this unique midair perspective. It took a lot of trial and error making sure the dogs were safe and comfortable, and that we would get a great photo, but it was worth it.
The men in Carolyn Murphy's life
OK, I admit. I have a girl crush on Carolyn Murphy and it started when she sat with my dog Gus for a shoot…on a truck…my truck…for the cover of Australian Vogue! I knew I liked her immediately because she liked dogs…lots of dogs.
Dylan the Dog and his man Aki steal mrs. sizzle's heart and Noe Dewitt was there to capture it
The best part about being well-known as a crazy dog lady is receiving emails from friends about gorgeous rescue animals - and their even hotter owners! Photographer Gillian Laub sent me a pic of this amazing guy with his very handsome dog, and I absolutely had to meet them - I mean...barefoot and biking? This story happens to be one of my favorites…
David Williams and the people and dogs of Westminster Dog Show
I asked David about what it was like to shoot dogs at the 2017 Westminster Dog Show in NYC this month and this is what he had to offer:
"I was lucky enough to take a stab at the challenge of capturing the Westminster Dog Show this year. Color and humor are what compels me to take a picture, and this event has no shortage of either. The purple runways and ropes, green show floor, and colorful skirt suits provide ample opportunities to take a great picture. Oh! And the dogs. The most beautiful dogs I have ever seen. Big ones, small ones, skinny ones, fat ones. It’s almost like a Dr. Suess book in real life. With everything working to my advantage, the dog show is still an unpredictable event to photograph and difficult to make photos that stand out from other photographer's shots from the past. With this in mind, I tried my best to seek out moments that spoke to me instead of firing my camera at every cute dog that walked past. So, after three days and over 58,000 steps, here’s a peek into what I came home with."
MRS. Sizzle says: "it's new york Fashion Leash"! #NYFL
Mrs. Sizzle, your 411 for all things doggie chic, hit the streets with lensman Ben Ritter to snap some of NYC’s beloved fashion stylists and famous instadogs sporting today’s hottest leashes. Move over NYFW, the dogs have come to town.
BILLY SULLIVAN HAS A SHOW AT KAUFMANN REPETTO until April 30
Billy Sullivan is a painter who is obsessed with his and other people's dogs. I met Billy last summer with his husband Klaus at Malcolm Morley's house for dinner. We didn't talk dogs but we will from now on.
NOE DEWITT CAPTURES THE AMERICAN BALLET DANCERS AND THEIR DOGS
Is it just a funny coincidence that so many dancers have dogs? I was beginning to think so and had to check it out for myself. I had been introduced to the magnificent dancers of The America Ballet by vet extraordinaire, Jennifer Chaitman. I truly had no idea of the grace and ease that these dogs add to a dance routine!
AMY LOMBARD AND EDIE SIZZLE TAKE ON #NYFL (YES, LEASH)
In Mrs. Sizzle's opinion the most fun time of the canine year just came and went: New York Fashion Week. But seeing as how the newest VIP was our very own Edie Sizzle, we think of this glamorous week more like New York Fashion Leash. Whether she’s sporting her new neon orange leash, matching booties, and comfy tribal sweater or color blocking with a cozy white sweater and black paw boots, or keeping it casual with a black cover up and neon booties for a pop of color, Edie was as trendy as our fave fashion A-listers. Without a doubt, our favorite look has got to be her unseasonably bright multi-color top with matching neon and light pink leashes. With as many looks as the leggy supermodels strutting down the runway, Edie took NYFL by storm. Mrs. Sizzle is a proud mama.
IF you missed Frieze NY, fear not, Pickle is here to share her discoveries
You probably know me through my Instagram project @PickleBeholding. What you may not know is that I started the Instagram project because I work as a private art advisor for individuals and companies. In other words, I help people figure out what art to buy within their budget and taste. A lot of that work is taking away the stigmas and fears of feeling uneducated enough or not wealthy enough to appreciate and buy art. You don’t have to be super educated to appreciate contemporary art. Liking it is appreciating it, and if you like it enough to want to live with it, you should.
Patrick Sher is all about a naked dog
NUDES Vol. 1
Blue is a six year old Brussels griffon living in Brooklyn. She’s kind of a shapeshifter; part dog, part cat, part rabbit, part bird. Most of all she is a Sage that is constantly shooting out lightning bolts of love. Oh yeah, also a part time nude model.
A cat named Napoleon JJF van Alphen-Mann
Fashion editor, stylist, storyteller, and gamine barely describe the expertise and energy that Maggie Mann exudes. Partner her with her creative director husband Ferdinand van Alphen and you have a real powerhouse of a couple.
Lia Chavez is a visual and performance artist with a very chic rescue greyhound named London
Beverly Allan introduced me to the work of Lia Chavez, a visual and performance artist who divides her time between Brookhaven Hamlet and Manhattan with her husband, David Shing, a futurist and their rescue dog London. Lia will be performing a piece entitled, "Light Body", a contemplative dance piece this Saturday at the farm of Isabella Rossellini. "The performance marks the artist’s emergence from a 40-day vow of silence. Inspired by John Cage’s renowned experiments with sensory deprivation and historical accounts of activating the light body through deep meditation, Chavez has drawn upon the mystical concept of “feasting on light” — a reference to the Yogic practice of sustaining the physical and energetic bodies with meditation and the breath.
The visual artworks created over this period will be the subject of a private exhibition at Isabella Rossellini's home concurrently. (Beverly Allan and Nur EL Shami's press release).
ADWOA ABOAH CAN PAT HER DOG AND SPEAK HER MIND AT THE SAME TIME
I have known this beauty since she was a wee one running up and down the beach in Tulum playing with her sister Kesewa and my daughter Sophie - spirited and carefree. Life has certainly thrown this girl a few curveballs but it is with grace and determination that she emerged from a spell and has come through like a shiny golden star. Founder of GURLS Talk, feminist crusader, actress, model and friend to many, Adwoa Aboah shares with us a few tidbits about her life and her dog, of course. Thank you to my sweet friend Tierney Gearon for these delicious pics.

WANT YOUR POOCHIE TO SMELL MIGHTY FINE? HARRIOTT & HOUND IS THE ANSWER
I never thought the day would come when there would be doggie perfume. Hailing from Australia and fresh to the market is Harriott & Hound a delictable scent that every pooch will howl over. Gilly Harriott, the canine lover behind H&H, had always dreamed of creating a dog perfume for her best friend in the world, Hefner her Spoodle. With over 25 years’ experience in the beauty industry and a deep love for dogs, Gilly decided to merge her passions and create this beautiful, dog-safe range of perfume and cologne with her motto in mind: "If it's good enough for humans it's good enough for my dog".
