Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

"I have wanted a Maine Coon Cat since the first time I laid eyes on one. They are true beasts.
A dear friend brought my attention to Jazzy. I saw her and I went and got her.  Not even the sorrowful eyes of Sophie, Suzanne's delightful daughter parting with her rescue made me pause in taking her.  I am also a true beast. She now lives with my other cat Banjo. He is a fat ginger cat. His life is good. Upon arrival Jazzy was a nasty little bitch but has softened…My son Walt changed her name to Spike. Welcome to your new home. Jazzy Spike Lane." - Alice

"A million things hold the universe together. Our universe begins with Instagram and a cat.

I had rescued this sweet cat named Jazz from the streets of Hartford over a month before Alice walked into our lives. Jazz was malnourished, cold, and dumpster diving in order to survive. Countless treats and a few scratches later, she moved into my college dorm full time with me.

It was from her that I learned the lessons of great responsibility and selflessly caring for another. She taught me what it meant to truly love a pet because she was all mine. I felt obligated to love her, but I knew that our time together would be cut short due my dorm’s “NO PETS” policy.

Enter Alice.

After posting Jazzy’s photo on Mrssizzle’s Instagram, I feared that the person who would be responsible for my new furry feline love wouldn’t meet my standards. Clearly, I had never met Alice Lane.

To describe her in few words would be unfitting, and frankly, completely unjust. She cannot be quantified. She is an infinite source of energy, intelligence, and light. From the moment I met her I was infected with Alice’s passion for all things, especially my sweet Jazz. Her life is both colorful and caring, and I couldn’t have chosen a better fit for my kitty.

But our story does not end there. We have embarked on a new journey (aside from co-cat loving), one that is much more fashionable and definitely less furry. Alice is now training me in the art of makeup. I have taken on the role as her assistant-in-training, and I couldn’t have asked for a better excuse to spend more time with her.

To sum up this past month with Alice would entail a much longer post, but I will leave all you Mrssizzle readers with this: life is incredibly wacky. I thought I was just rescuing a cat off the street, but little did I know, I was also starting a brand new chapter in my life with someone who brings out my best creative energy. With all the negative hubbub surrounding social media and how it makes us more disconnected, take my connection with Alice into consideration. If it weren’t for the world of Mrssizzle, my life would be a little less bright today." - Sophie
