I met this FABULOUS illustrator, THE DOGOPHILE, on my favorite platform INSTAGRAM and was immediately smitten with the hysterical drawings and equally engaging canine captions.  As the timing of my discovery was during New York Fashion week I decided that we should have some fun capturing some of the fashions from Milan in addition to running a few of Lucy Marshall's previous drawings from her feed.
Not only does this woman draw but she is quite the multi hatted entrepreneur living in Sydney Australia. She used to run an executive search firm with her husband that has now morphed into a combination of country mouse city mouse, if you will,  where she also tends to her roses and sketches poochie portraits. So I did a little digging and this is what she shared of her delicious drawings!

"I first went to a cartooning class when I was 14 in Adelaide.  I was the only one who did the homework - "Draw 1000 faces by next week"  !!  I doodled here and there and, strangely enough, found it useful when I was so incredibly busy interviewing executives in Tokyo; they were all starting to blend into one, as I had to schedule as many meetings in a week as I could.... So I'd be scribbling notes from the meeting on the top page and then drawing the pic of the person on the next page, so that I'd remember something about them - you know - big ears, or big nose, or weird tie, or anything that would help me easily differentiate between all of them, when writing my conclusions!!  I just really hoped that none of them saw what I was doing on the next page!!

As for the doggy part: well, I grew up without any animals.  I think we had a goldfish and maybe a budgie.  I would cross the road, rather than walk past a dog!  I was so scared of them! Exactly 10 years ago, when my daughter was at boarding school, my son was getting quite lonely.  So!  Along came Baci, a black English cocker spaniel.  And she worked on me!  I found that I would be scribbling more and more dogs doing silly things, and she became my muse.  Perhaps because I came to the world of dogs a lot later that almost everyone else, I spent a lot of time analyzing Baci's behaviorand being intrigued by it.  (I now speak Espaniel too!!!)

And so the cartooning and dogs collided.  I've found the last few weeks, when I've gone live with my blog and Instagram etc., to be so interesting.  It's been amazing to see what people react to, and what they don't."

Thank you Lucy! You can also find the The Dogophile on Instagram! @thedogophile
