My Golden Finn as told by Donna Demari
"In 2009, I lost my two best friends. They were Labrador retrievers, brothers and their names were Luke and Forrest.
I never thought I would recover or my heart would ever heal. I wrote a book to honor their lives and I was also determined not to have another dog.
They were the loves of my life and irreplaceable.
Several years later on my birthday, I found myself in a big pile of puppies. There was a green eyed chocolate pup who could never have been as beautiful as Luke. And there was a little wiggly black pup who could never fill Forrest’s paws. But of course, I thought they were meant for me. So I sat in the grass waiting and off they ran with their brothers and sisters all in a row.
Only one little puppy stayed behind. Number 11. The runt of the litter.
He had curls the size of giant hair rollers, perfect confirmation and a long black coat. Half Lab/ half Golden.
He walked right up to me and smacked a big kiss on my face. All wet and slobbery and delicious.
At that moment, I knew it was love."
