JEFF SCHER wants a dog. In the meantime playing with Sid will have to do.
I can't stop watching this hilarious play between man and beast. As Jeff puts it, “This film was entirely the dog’s idea. I just supplied the rubber pork chop and the camera. SID and I shared a summer house on Shelter Island, he belonged to famed graphic designer Paul Sahr. Sid was a foot long and in his prime had more energy than a sack of bedsprings and a stick of dynamite. He was a compulsive fetcher but not so hot on letting go, so episodes like this were a regular feature of his day. I shot the film with two rolls of 16mm film with a very wide angle lens on a Beaulieu movie camera. His tenacious bite empowered these not so short flights. After each spin we were both so dizzy we’d crumble to the ground, but even with the earth spinning, he’d come back for another round. "

Thank you Jeff, made my day.
