Jarren Vink and the "Lady" he rescued

I reached out to Jarren Vink after I came across some of his wonderfully elaborate photographs of organized things.  I contacted him thinking what a fun dog project and coincidentally we had many friends in common!  He replied with this stuning top picture of his dog Lady.  Here is her story:

"We adopted her almost three years ago from Animal Haven. At the time she was 6 months old and super scared and skittish, but a beautiful dog and had a softness to her personality. She wasn’t a jump-on-people kind of dog and we loved that. We adopted her that day and took her back to our apartment in Brooklyn and introduced her to our two cats and began the joy of house breaking. If you can do that in a walk up apartment, you can do it anywhere. She quickly became a member of our own little pack and felt very attached to our family. A few months later we decided to get out of the city and give her (and ourselves) a yard to play in. We did miss the morning off leash hours with other pups, but the lure of no neighbors outweighed that. She has opened up a ton within our family, but is still very skittish and weary of humans. She loves to play with other dogs and that is one of the best ways to introduce her and warm her up to other people. We’d love for her to open up more and be a friendly dog with new people, but we also love the loyalty she has to use. My wife and I recently had a baby girl and Lady quickly loved her. She was constantly concerned every time Birdie, our daughter cried. She has since grown to understand that that’s a natural tendency. Lady has become a great source of entertainment for Birdie and we consider the two best friends. "

Chuck-It - tennis ball thrower
I acquired this from a photo shoot, and although she is not much for fetch, she enjoys running after the ball. It’s great exercise for her and I, as I’m usually tasked with returning the ball.
Durapet Bowls
Classic durable dog bowls.
Pig’s Ear
Lady loves pig ears. Whenever she needs a distraction or we have to leave her longer than we like, this is a great treat. We pick ours up from my local pet supply shop .
Wilson Tennis ball
On the rare occasion she does want to fetch, it’s great to have a tennis ball on hand.
Knot Rope - can’t recall the brand
It’s not her favorite toy, but I keep it in my studio if I need to play tug-o-war with her.
Bamboo Fat Cat                                                                                                                              This is by far her favorite toy and she has gone through many. Her immediate goal is to get all of the stuffing out the cat and then continue gnawing on the fabric. We’ve labeled this toy her ‘Baby’ and whenever we ask where her baby is, she runs through the house to get it.
Nautica Fleece Blanket
I’m not sure at what point she made this blanket hers, but now it sits inside of her dog bed and we take it with us whenever we travel with her.
Filson leash
Nice, durable, simple rope leash.
Rope Ball - can’t recall brand                                                                                                        She enjoys this toy since she can shake it around with a weight on the end. I don’t know how she hasn’t knocked herself out whipping this rope ball around.
Kong Wubba
Poorly made toys don’t last long with Lady, so having a Kong toy is great. She loves the squeak of this along with shaking it around and gnawing on the fabric.
Marrow Bone
This is another good distraction treat. Lady loves working all of the tissue and marrow out of a bone. Even after it’s been entirely cleaned, Lady will work on a bone for months. These are great to have in my studio to keep her occupied while I am busy shooting or dealing with production.
Zuke’s Dog Treats, Peanut Butter
These tiny treats are great for training. She loves these and you can give her a lot without overdoing it since each treat is so small.
