FASHION, FOOD AND FOOLS - MRS. SIZZLE VISITS FREDS AT BARNEYS FOR CANINE DELIGHTS

Editorial Director of The Window at Barneys, Marissa Rosenblum, called me in to do what I now seem to think I do best - gather a team of dogs and photographer to join Barneys in their April 1st canine gathering.
We met at Freds over the course of two days with a total of 13 dogs and more luscious looking food than we knew what to do with.  Lens-woman Amy Lombard kept cool amidst puppies walking on pizzas and unimpressed dogs.

AMY LOMBARD AND EDIE SIZZLE TAKE ON #NYFL (YES, LEASH)

In Mrs. Sizzle's opinion the most fun time of the canine year just came and went: New York Fashion Week. But seeing as how the newest VIP was our very own Edie Sizzle, we think of this glamorous week more like New York Fashion Leash. Whether she’s sporting her new neon orange leash, matching booties, and comfy tribal sweater or color blocking with a cozy white sweater and black paw boots, or keeping it casual with a black cover up and neon booties for a pop of color, Edie was as trendy as our fave fashion A-listers. Without a doubt, our favorite look has got to be her unseasonably bright multi-color top with matching neon and light pink leashes. With as many looks as the leggy supermodels strutting down the runway, Edie took NYFL by storm. Mrs. Sizzle is a proud mama.

What do Comicon and I have in common? Superheroes, however mine are of the four- legged variety. At the suggestion of my clever friend Laura Hughes, I decided to put the two together. I invited Amy Lombard to shoot the event and what a time we had!  The day started with prolific Kevin Conroy, the brilliant actor and the voice of Batman! Edie and Clair donned Batman and Robin outfits with Kevin modeling sans costume. The rest of the day was catch can. Dogs were cast off the street and Marnie came and did a cameo. All in all a brilliant doggie day!

It's no surprise that fashion designer Rachel Antonoff's dog does clothes so well but prefers being naked

This week we visit the apartment of Rachel Antonoff the super duper inspired fashion designer and cutie extraordinaire.  Although Mrs. Sizzle got lost in the rain she was relieved to get to the cozy apartment with the barking dog, none other than Lafitte Antonoff.  Amy Lombard was on hand to photograph and there to help us look stylish was the brilliant DOG & CO.!  I had to ask Rachel many questions about this handsome scruffy dude.

Chloe the mini frenchie is having the time of her life

As it seems with all my new friends these days, I met this incredible woman and her dog on INSTAGRAM.  Seeing that it has now become an Olympic sport for me, it’s no surprise that the cute feed of @CHLOETHEMINIFRENCHIE became a regular in mine.  We met for the first time during an April Fool's shoot for Barneys and later followed up at various dog centric functions.  NO WONDER this dog has so many followers - she is cute as a button, and, as I have shared with her Mom, if the dog is missing, please come looking at my house! Amy Lombard came along for my playdate with Chloe!

Patricia Field - Fashion icon, lover of life, stylist to the infamous television show Sex in the City and the owner of the extraordinary PATRICIA FIELD boutique which will be closing its doors in a few months.  When I learned the store was to be sold, I was insistent that Amy Lombard join me to go shoot the two house dogs and get some insight into their lives with the magnanimous Patrica Field. Surprisingly for being Pat's kids, they are so NOT fashion hounds so let's hear why!

WELCOME to the Park Hyatt NYC where dogs are people too

In the city that never sleeps, dog owners find it difficult to stay at a luxury hotel that allows pups to rest their heads. Since its opening last August, the Park Hyatt NYC has become a haven for just that. Just a short two block walk from Central Park, the Park Hyatt combines the chic atmosphere of a city hotel with the added comfort of bringing your furry friend.  In addition to having the best amenities for pooches, The Park Hyatt NY donates 100% of the overnight dog fee to Friends of Finn and The Humane Society of the United States.

Doug the Pug hit the streets of NYC a few weeks ago with a million interviews and a bad ass meet up in Central Park. Mrs Sizzle asked him a few questions about the whole experience.

So when you hopped out of the car for the first time in the city what was the best smell you encountered?  "Hot dogs everywhere. The NYC lady pugs smelled pretty good too. "

Irene Albright is a fashion DYNAMO. Amy Lombard and I had the pleasure of visiting the library the other day to get a tour and a few licks from Gus! What an impressive place.  Irene shares,  "After working as a stylist for 20 years and desperately seeking wardrobe for a shoot, I decided to build my own showroom; a safe haven for all my friends who were stylists to pull their shoots." The Albright Fashion Library, since opening in 1990, has expanded and evolved into a resource for the industry’s top stylists, magazine editors and costume designers.

I first saw these photos on Feature Shoot and flipped! I reached out to Amy and here is her story about these magnificent photos.
"Before I went to my first dog event I was very deep into a terrible photographic rut.  I had hit a breaking point, and I asked myself “What do YOU love? What are YOU interested in?” I looked around my room and saw my Pomeranian Sasha looking at me. Something clicked in my head and I became curious about dog culture in New York City. The Doggies and Tiaras Pageant, founded by pet fashion designer Roberto Negrin, was the first thing I found when doing my research. The moment I stepped into the New Yorker Hotel it was like I got my groove back.
