It’s been a while since Mrs. Sizzle has visited a shelter and I was lucky enough to have some national outreach from AUSTIN, TX. Nicole Mlakar, a fantastic Austin photographer, and Anne Christian, of the brilliant dog collar & leash co, DOG + BONE , came together to do a series of portraits at the local shelter, AUSTIN PETS ALIVE. Here is the result of a day of shooting some of these beautiful beasts in their new colorful combinations. Please spread the word and let us know if you have any adoption ideas for these sweeties.
Austin Pets Alive! is a national leader with comprehensive, innovative programs designed to save the animals most at risk for euthanasia. In 2015, APA! took in more than 6700 dogs and cats. These animals were all in danger of being euthanized and we took them in because we believe they are all lives worth saving. In the past, simply being too sick or too young was reason enough for pets to be killed in traditional shelters. The idea of going the extra mile to treat and train them seemed too complicated but APA! became the difference. Our groundbreaking programs were developed to meet the needs of the animals most commonly at risk and because of those programs APA! has saved over 35,000 lives since 2008.
